The era of the Obamas was a unique window of opportunity and potential. No pain, no gain! The question is what measurable motions happened during this period of time. As it is closing.......the question surfaces; "What happened?"
Overall the indie Black Age of Comics genre has more annual events and can boasts of more products than ever!
We at ONLI STUDIOS secured and promoted our relationship with the DuSable Museum of African American History in Chicago. This institutional level partnership is our biggest asset during this time. Or course we published a few products along the way.
Thanks you Obamas!!!!!
We've been working hard to these things thus far:
I am a former Chicagoan, living in Portland, Oregon for decades and during the Reign of President Obama, I've written two novels. When I lived in Chicago I was a member of the Kuumba Theater group under the direction of Val Gray Ward. The Obama family is quite inspiring.
"The Obama Era" was a unique phase of time and opportunity. Those who seized that time will gain. Others will fare. Now we as a buying force hold over a trillion dollars to spend a year......the challenge and opportunity is for us to spend more of it with us. Because the next era does not look as promising without this practice in place and full effect. A trillion dollars will buy up all the police we ever did need!
This would be an era. Like all eras. Time frames. In terms of opportunities. Each President of the USA has a certain amount of aspects and impacts that produce opportunities or trends. Per the symbol of having a Black President as the marker of the era. The question remains.
We must break the Black On Black Boycott!
Improving our culture so that it becomes more productive is a daily opportunity. Sorry so many feel it is not their interest or duty. Then they call Whites, Jews or the Japanese racists for improving theirs.
Now that the unique era of the Obamas is over.......Hmmmm..... What did we do?
Question: If one that is Black did not advance ideas, resources and practices during this era......no wonder they fear the new President and parade around saying Lives Matter then go spend their cash at Subway or Starbucks. Never confronting Black on Black violence which reinforces the Black On Black boycott. That was an 8 year window of opportunity.
For those that grew.......ore Power to You!
