Tongal, Project Greenlight launch animation incubator
The Next Great Animated Series contest launched by Project Greenlight Digital Studios and Tongal will shell out a total of US$95,000 to successful contestants.

Project Greenlight Digital Studios (PGDS), which is a content initiative from Adaptive Studios, and online creative community Tongal have joined forces to offer up US$95,000 to find and develop the next breakout animated series.
The two companies are accepting submissions for The Next Great Animated Series until December 14 for contestants’ one-to-three minute pitch videos explaining their ideas. The video has to include a concept and how it should be executed. It can also contain character animations and scripts.
The pitched series can be for adults and/or children, and the medium is not restrictive. Accepted pitches can come in the form of 3D, CGI, Claymation, 2D, stop motion and whatever other mixed-media combinations creators can come up with.
The top five submissions, selected by PGLDS and Tongal, will receive US$5,000 each to create a proof of concept. Then the public will vote, and a panel of industry judges will weigh in to pick the winner, who will receive US$70,000 to produce an 11-minute pilot.
PGLDS is the studio behind Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s Project Greenlight on HBO, which is about finding a great first-time filmmaker and helping him or her make a feature film. Tongal is a crowd-sourcing studio focused on connecting writers, directors and production companies with businesses. The two companies will provide mentorship and funding to help the pilot’s creation and distribution.
