"The First Thing Out of Her Mouth"

I was checking out this service as a possible script 'pre-visualization tool'. For free you can input your lines and basic camera angles to get a quick idea of the flow of your script. For more elaborate sets, change the race of actors and other more advanced options you'll have to fork over some cash. However, for just a quick and dirty pre-vis, it's tough to beat. Here is the first of a series called "Between Men and Women". Text © 2010 H. Wolfgang Porter. All Rights Reserved.

Story 'Bibles' are a must. If nothing more than a reference for you writing the piece. I've 'cheated' so to speak with my novels in that I do a fairly detailed glossary and rogue's gallery. I can't tell you how many times I refer back to the previous glossaries when writing a new Tale. For animation, they're needed because you almost always working in a collaborative environment so they'll need the in depth reference material a 'Bible' will hold. Just remember you can use your Treatment to help you fill in gaps or give you backstory 'threads' you can follow. Cool thing about Bibles is they often are great places to mine when you hit the wall on creating ideas! Some of the interesting backstories or little details will be very good sources for 'what's next' material. Truthfully, if you've been writing a project for a while, you should have a 'bible' built up already.

Brother about story bibles for animated series? I have been asked to prepare one for Lucius Hammer and I have a rough idea how to do one...but just wanted to run it by you and see what you have to say about it.

Actually, the finished script is what you're agent will be pushing if you are fortunate enough to have one. The Director once one is in place will handle the script during the pre-production and production phases. If again you are fortunate as the original scriptwriter, you may be called upon to work with the director during those two phases for rewrites and what-not. When writing you're script, unless you plan on directing it yourself do not include camera angles or any other kind of director's cues. Many directors are put off by that as they will want to input their vision with the work. Many agents know this and won't peddle your script if they see that stuff in it. Once you put the script into an agent's hands, move onto another project. Whether it sells or not, gets made or not is in other people's hands. Unless you plan on making the film yourself, your part is done until you get hired on as the scriptwriter for the picture.

My studies state that there are two stages to script writing.  The first major one is writing a Presentation Script.  The second is the Director's Script.  I don't know anything about camera angles.  But, I submitted my Presentation script to my agent to market.  I figure each director will write their own anyway.  My agent's job is to sell them on my script story.  Bad strategy?

Thanks Brother Porter (chuckle)!  This is funny.  I actually know a man in my religion with same name.  I am being lazy.  I have got to burn it.  I am working on the distribution of Romantic Warrior.  But I have got to get the video script thing working.  Thanks for the links.  I'm on it - sometime this weekend (chuckle).

Brother Burks, first check out the 3 discussions on 'Scriptwriting for Videogames'. There's some good info on how a full 'script' for a videogame is put together and in the 3rd discussion you'll find sample written VG scripts and an online book on the entire process of creating a VG. If you have questions after that, feel free to ask.

My client, Frank Akenten, has created a game to which I am writing a script.  It is very exciting.  I have written a Sci-Fi script which my agent has not been able to get sold yet.  Any ideas?  I am currently working on my client's first project called Romantic Warrior (

HAPPY NEW YEAR! So hopefully, you all had happy and enjoyable holydays and are all ready to get back to work on your scripts! Welcome to our new members as well! Coming up will be the final part of 'Scriptwriting for Videogames', some sample Treatments and a discussion about 'Scriptwriting for Comics/Graphic Novels'. That and whatever else I get my hands on! So standby....

Hey everyone! Just started to branch out with a series of discussions on how utilizing the discussions on scriptwriting for the big and small screen can translate into other areas like Videogames an Comic Books. These additional mediums are highly visual in format and though artwork is key, how well developed the story and characters are can make or break your project. First we'll start off with V-Games and then get into comic books specifically Graphic Novels. Stay tuned!

The U.S. Coast Guard lieutenant spent hours on end planning a wide-scale domestic terrorist attack, even logging in at his work computer on the job at headquarters to study the manifestos and heinous paths of mass shooters, prosecutors say. He researched how to carry out sniper attacks, they contend, and whether rifle scopes were illegal. And all the while, investigators assert, he was amassing a cache of weapons as he ruminated about attacks on politicians and journalists.

But Christopher P. Hasson was not an isolated figure, according to a contractor who worked with him. The 49-year-old…

Life as alpha of a werewolf pack is anything but predictable. But even Parker Berenson is surprised by the latest twist: he’s fallen in love with a space alien. Problem is, he suspects Melera, his sexy new flame, might be the serial killer terrorizing Seattle. Or maybe she isn’t. After all, just because she’s an interstellar assassin doesn’t mean she’s guilty.
