So I've been wondering what place Metaphysics has in the world of science fiction and by degrees science itself. Do book like Vodou Quantum leap or the Dancing Wu-Li Masters have any place in a world…Continue

As a Muslim I generally see the nature of my existence filtered through the Qur'an.  The missing component is the fact that God doesn't go in depth explaining our nature, so there are a lot of avenues to explore.

One of my favorite quotes dealing with that topic: "We are spiritual beings having a human experience."

"Spirit" is a mysterious form of energy that exists outside of the reach of science's tools of study.  It's fascinating, but unless you are of a mind to use Rick Strassman's altered states of consciousness research as the basis for scientific research into the nature of 'spirit,' then where would you start in finding the answer in your lifetime?

Metaphysics is a branch of philosophy espoused and explained by Aristotle.

Let's not confuse metaphysics with the paranormal which may include anything from ghost chasers to bigfoot hunters, although the new age movement almost ruined metaphysics. Metaphysics has more weight and credibility and is far older. Some of the wisest people on the planet have indulged in it to some degree or another. Is it not an early form of science? The ancients in their wisdom made their best attempts to work within the laws of the natural world to understand nature. I think even back then people wanted to travel to other worlds or harness energy. It's a cop-out and an insult to think they just made-up deities for everything they didn't understand. I like to think we unfortunatly lost a lot of ancient knowledge and secrets. Sure we have our televisions, radios, camaras and other modern wonders that we now take for granted, but these things have only been around about a century. The ancients had thousands of years of metaphysics, who knows how much has been lost or forgottten or maybe even secretly rediscovered.

I guess that depends on who you ask.

I have a question. Is Metaphysics really just pseudoscience if there is no actual physics involved?

THE UNDERGROUND BY ROXANNE BLAND

Life as alpha of a werewolf pack is anything but predictable. But even Parker Berenson is surprised by the latest twist: he’s fallen in love with a space alien. Problem is, he suspects Melera, his sexy new flame, might be the serial killer terrorizing Seattle. Or maybe she isn’t. After all, just because she’s an interstellar assassin doesn’t mean she’s guilty.
