The mystery of life is before us. Human nature gets in the way. We like to differentiate and mark ourselves as having acquired knowledge. We do this in everything, even sports fans wear jerseys of…Continue

the imagineer

I am not much for fantasy, sometimes sci-fi can be a stretch, a futurist, yeah. For a digital artist it can be rough. The concept of fine art looms large with its smell of oil or the quick drying acrylic glaze. The image of one who holds the brush as it were a light saber. The image of the imager frozen in framonite to hang before the gazers with hand to chin. Mind gawkers, all of them, peering ever so close to see if brush hairs were inadvertently glued to the surface. The gallant gallery head…See More

I don't dip, twerk or hop-hips.

Much can be said for todays young folk, they party with abandonment. The popularity of Hip-Hop culture rivals Don Cornelius and Soul Train. When I looked at the Afrofuture I didn't take off from George Clinton's Mothership. I was on the ship of Sun Ra but I came through Pharaoh Sanders, John and Alice Coltrane, Archie Shepp and Eddie Harris. It was a cusp of light between the worlds of the ancient and tomorrow. I kept wanting to lose it all but discipline and focus to construct what I wanted to…See More

filling my sketchbook

What am I up too....besides working at a grocer, filling another sketchbook. Been hooked on combining quonset huts with shipping containers. Living in big boxes will drive ya nuts so I added quonset huts to get an arched ceiling. Also wondering if all steel structures are a good thing. Plywood and foam sandwich panels, wood post and beam and adobe are much better materials organically, psychologically and economically. I also think about having curved walls so that rooms are not square, art…See More

Sweethome3d is bitter sweet. The one company makes two dark skinned characters that are stiff compared to an assortment of light skinned characters. An after thought, perhaps. Reminds me of my art class days, I was the model for the day and it took three tries and the teacher cursing before cartoonish me gave way…

The nerd artist life. Hard to describe, I do draw with gel pens and I do fancy a bullet nose marker. The great god Harold and the Purple Crayon (they made a movie, well a cartoon) would be proud.

My tools consist of an XP era desktop and an engineering laptop. They are overworked but hang in there quite well. The laptop has a removable graphics card. It has gone black 5 times and 5 times I have revived it by baking it in the oven. A trick I learned from British PC Techs on…

Thanks for the connection, Arnold! Have you lived most of your life in Lorain? If so, what, Lorain King, Lorain Sr., Lorain Catholic?  I'm a NEO guy myself. I went to Ravenna High east of you within the Akron district.

Arnold: I met Dr. McNair after his first shuttle mission at NC A&T. I spoke with him the month before Challenger. Yes, we've been significant to his country since stepping off the boat as "reluctant immigrants." Hope you enjoy today's posting.

Not too strange! I just got photosohp cs5 but I had been using GIMP for the last 2-3 years.  I love it and I'm more familiar with it.  Its better than Photoshop in a lot of ways although both have their strengths and weaknesses.  In fact, I still default to GIMP when I can't figure something out in Photoshop, or when I need a faster workflow.

Anyway, this is a response to the comment you left on the Graphic Designers and Artist Group wall :-D

If we write BSF with the aim of easing into wider Europhile audience acceptance than we might as well do like dozens of previous authors have done and tell of only white heroes and heroines. One Black author made quite a living telling tales of larger than life white heroes. BUT he neither glossed over nor appeased his main audiences' racial hangup. I can't think of his name at the moment. One of his films was a pre Lincoln southern scum starring Rex Harrison and Maureen O'Hara. The other was a B swashbuckler starring Ricardo Montobaln The Sarcen Blade.

Wynston Marsalis is old school now. I believe the old thing where we start a phase in pop culture, it's frowned upon by the melanin challenged and official Negroes, until large # of the pales' kids get into it, then some member is named the king of it. King of Jazz, King of Swing, King of Rock& Roll. That weirdling called himself the King of Pop but he bleached and chipped at his features to do so.

Always thought of Ohio as the 3C state when in school, Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. What about Dizzy Gillespie?

The Fifth Season is coming to TV!

N.K. Jemisin’s ‘The Fifth Season’ Book To Be Developed As TV Series At TNT!

Now Mr. Hayashi can't complain about there being no other famous black creatives than Delany and Butler.

http://deadline.com/2017/08/nk-jemisin-the-fifth-season-book-developed-tv-series-tnt-1202150542/

Now who says diversity doesn't sell?! If some yesteryear agent says that, throw this article in their face and say "Are you sure? Now get me TNT's president and NO I won't hold!"

Of course, this assumes TNT won't screw this up like they did the TFTC revival.

SKYCITY TALKRADIO

THE UNDERGROUND BY ROXANNE BLAND

Life as alpha of a werewolf pack is anything but predictable. But even Parker Berenson is surprised by the latest twist: he’s fallen in love with a space alien. Problem is, he suspects Melera, his sexy new flame, might be the serial killer terrorizing Seattle. Or maybe she isn’t. After all, just because she’s an interstellar assassin doesn’t mean she’s guilty.
