Not getting ANY interest from Agents from my query letter. Any hints to help me improve it or should I just break down and rewrite the 1st chapter of my book?

Query:

I’ve been a fan of Sci-Fi and fantasy since before I could even read. For a young African American that meant watching and reading stories that didn’t include people who looked like me or who were from where I was from. Then as I got older it seemed as though the opposite began to happen with OVERLY Afro… Continue

The EMPIRE STRIKES!

The Tauntaun pulled up short as it reached the crest of this particular snowy hill. Luke reached down and patted the great beast’s neck in comfort.

“What’s the matter girl?” he asked. “It’s just our new friends.”

But the animal showed no sign of decreased agitation as it considered the goliath that stood a mere fifty meters away. A goliath so big that despite standing in a gully and… Continue

Just a little fun with the main character of my soon to be published book: The Serpent Cult

TOMCAT Verses...

I take a deep breath, fill my lungs deep, and feel my tense pectorals stretch over my ribs. Then I let it out slow, pushing it through clenched teeth, and let my shoulders settled back into place. It helps, my mind is quiet and I begin to focus. Focus is of the utmost importance. Otherwise I lose and Rock City falls.

The rotten floor boards push up against my… Continue

Thanks Brother Night :)! I marked The Serpent Cult to read on Goodreads and on http://www.librarything.com/ It's this new site where you can catalogue your own books. As soon as I get some money, I'm going to order it :) By the way, the cover looks fantastic!

I've added your book to the website. I also swiped your biography, please let me know if you'd like any changes. I can also add a photo for your bio if you like.

Thanks! Ruth

My pleasure Brother Night! You know I'm one of your biggest fans :) I can't wait to read The Serpent Cult :).

One more thing: if you do use createspace's cover creator, just ignore the message that'll come up about your Image DPI being too small. That's just them trying to get you to use their services :)

You can also download their tenplate for a fully formated cover. There's also lightning source but they charge $112 for set up fees. You'll sell more with LS though.

Yes, createspace. They're free, just stay away from their "special offers" ect :). You just start an account, then upload your book in whatever trim size you want. The go to cover creator, you can build you cover step by step using your own image :) I'm here to help if you have nore questions -- I want an autographied copy!

A new uncertainty principle holds that quantum objects can be at two temperatures at once, which is similar to the famous Schrödinger's cat thought experiment, in which a cat in a box with a radioactive element can be both alive and dead. Credit: Shutterstock

When the researchers turn an external magnetic field in different directions (indicated with arrows), they change the orientation of the linear electron flow above the kagome (six-fold) magnet, as seen in these electron wave interference patterns on the surface of a topological quantum kagome magnet. Each pattern is created by a particular direction of the external magnetic field applied on the sample.

Republicans: Founded in 1854 by anti-slavery expansion activists and modernizers, the Republican Party quickly surpassed the Whig Party as the principal opposition to the Democratic Party. In 1860, it came to power with the election of Abraham Lincoln to the presidency. The party presided over the American Civil War and Reconstruction and was harried by internal factions and scandals toward the end of the 19th century. Today, the party supports a conservative platform (from an American political perspective), with further foundations in supply-side fiscal policies,…

THE UNDERGROUND BY ROXANNE BLAND

Life as alpha of a werewolf pack is anything but predictable. But even Parker Berenson is surprised by the latest twist: he’s fallen in love with a space alien. Problem is, he suspects Melera, his sexy new flame, might be the serial killer terrorizing Seattle. Or maybe she isn’t. After all, just because she’s an interstellar assassin doesn’t mean she’s guilty.
