I'm a long time fan of SCI-FI. Back in the 60's I remember sitting in front of the TV watching STAR TREK,CAPTAIN SCARLETT,TIME TUNNEL,LOST IN SPACE etc.. Love SCI-FI movies, from Fritz Lang's METROPOLIS to Defiance the TV show. Also have a love for B SCI-FI movies from the 50's to present. Have also written a few short stories that I hope to get published one day.

Thanks for the info James. I don't think I can make it Sunday but I would definitely like to meet up with the group and find out more. Please keep me posted about any upcoming events and meetings. Thanks.
Congratulations on the submission to Rites of Passage: The Road to Nicodemus. I hope your story makes the cut and that I get a chance to check out your work. I must admit some envy though. Just a week or so before the holidays, I decided to take a last minute stab at creating a story for the anthology. I've had idea for a prequel to my Black Flame Series that is set during reconstruction and that focuses on Solomon King's father as a young man. Thought I could retrofit the idea to work in Rites of Passage but chickened at the last minute because I had some uncertainties concerning the publishing rights of contributors. Wish I had been able to contact the editors and pose the questions I had. I would loved the first volume of Steamfunk and would love to be in the company of authors of that caliber.
Wishing you the best.
Thanks for sharing a bit about the story you're working on James. I'd love to check it out whenever you're up to sharing. Been trying to correspond via direct messaging but for some reason, my laptop is not allowing me to send. May be time for an upgrade.
Thanks so much for the encouraging words. As only a small circle of friends have given any feedback on the story, it is nice to hear an objective commentary.
"The Black Flame Society" is part of a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen inspired metafiction series that I've been developing for a while. If all goes well, the final product will be made up of short adventure comics, stories, and global events essays on events from the period (roughly, the end of WWI to the early 50's). Hoping it will have both entertainment and educational value.
With luck, I'll have an opportunity to get another piece of the series into print before too long.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Two white dwarfs head toward a collision in this artist’s illustration. New research suggests that the Milky Way's preponderance of positrons could come from a specialized type of supernova from colliding low-mass white dwarfs — an explosion that is difficult to detect, but rich in an isotope that generates this kind of antimatter.

I planted my feet firmly on the ground. I never felt more connected to the planet where I stood than where I was right then in that moment. I took in a large, deep breath. It felt like I was breathing in the essence of crisp fresh snow.
And then I released.
This part of the plateau no one was allowed near. Off to the distance, I could see our city, Sheba, the buildings were made of gold and the streets were littered with diamonds and gems.
I zipped my jacket up and hid behind a large rock and waited.
The reason why people weren't allowed out this far from Sheba was because of the instability of the terrain. The scientists said that our world sometimes would converge with another world; a more dangerous world.
But this terrain was also where the agents came in and out of around this time of the evening. I wanted to see who they were bringing back this time.

Life as alpha of a werewolf pack is anything but predictable. But even Parker Berenson is surprised by the latest twist: he’s fallen in love with a space alien. Problem is, he suspects Melera, his sexy new flame, might be the serial killer terrorizing Seattle. Or maybe she isn’t. After all, just because she’s an interstellar assassin doesn’t mean she’s guilty.
