The plight of black booksellers in DC is getting worse, I'm afraid. Karibu has closed and Sisterspace is not coming back since the owner had a stroke. Depending on the books that are being sold there are other smallish bookstores: Howard University Bookstore (they are very open to in-store signings), Vertigo Books (multicultural) in College Park, MD (by the Univ. of MD), Politics and Prose in NW DC, & Olssens, We try to have a Black Author Showcase event 3 times a year, but it seems we are going to have to step up our pace. We have just been asked to have a showcase event at the UMBC campus on April 26th and I am talking to authors and making arrangements now. Two of the local Borders are now more receptive after hiring black managers (Silver Spring & Largo - suburbs of DC).
We've got quite a few DC folk on the showcase ning site. If yuo have particular dates I'll see what we can do to assist you.

Life as alpha of a werewolf pack is anything but predictable. But even Parker Berenson is surprised by the latest twist: he’s fallen in love with a space alien. Problem is, he suspects Melera, his sexy new flame, might be the serial killer terrorizing Seattle. Or maybe she isn’t. After all, just because she’s an interstellar assassin doesn’t mean she’s guilty.
