Talk ABout It Tuesday Afro Sci Fi Anthology

"Thanks for your honest review of AFRO Sci-Fi. Your observations are valid. "Collection" is probably a better description of my e-book. I wanted to offer readers my vision of spec fic tales. I am an AFROFuturist, thus, mostly, I write…"

Profile Information

About Me:
Stafford writes for a blog called “The AFROFuturist” and other online sites such as “DWASF: Diverse Writers & Artists Of Speculative Fiction” and the “Black Science Fiction Society”. He is an author, speaker, and instructional designer. Battle has been published by a major book company and independently. His most recent book is called “Resurrecting the King” in homage to the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s groundbreaking novel, Frankenstein but with an African flavor. He writes speculative fiction offering alternative viewpoints featuring people of color as major characters.

Stafford believes that “AFROFuturism” is not a recent phenomenon or a new genre of sci-fi in blackface. He has written essays and blog posts on the “Architects of AFROFuturism” which mentions Black writers in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries who predicted a future filled multiculturalism as well as laser pistols. He believes that exposure to speculative arts can educate people to look beyond their day-to-day lives and create a positive future. An article he wrote appeared in the New Pittsburgh Courier called “Science Fiction can rescue Black communities” – October 7, 2013. He also appeared in The Dallas Weekly for a story he wrote called “Why I Became an AFROFuturist” – November 15, 2013. On Friday, October 11, 2013, Stafford Battle was interviewed on WURD 900 AM, an African American talk radio station in Philadelphia to talk about about the value of AFROFuturism.

Consider The Great War of Africa When You Write

Posted on July 12, 2017 at 10:22pm 2 Comments

I want AFROcreators to produce more stories, movies, comics, art, and music about the "Great War of Africa."

The BSFS is a good place for AFROFuturistic writers to gain inspiration. Here, we can share, critique and support as well as promote each other's works. Let's put out more ideas for education,…

A New Flash Fiction Video from Sbattle

Posted on May 22, 2014 at 9:18pm 1 Comment

I know as authors we all need to have a book video to promote our work. I am working on an "Author Platform Video" to introduce potential readers to what I can do.  But I didn't want to spend a lot of money, so I created this in PowerPoint.

All comments are welcomed.

Its Impossible Until Its Done

Why Africa Must Go to the Moon

Posted on December 5, 2013 at 12:31am 0 Comments

There are many reasons why the nations of Africa should set aside their religious conflicts,  invite the African Diaspora to return home,  create a common currency and go to the Moon. India just launched a probe to Mars. The Chinese are planning a space station and an effort to put a base on…

Hi Stafford, thanks for stopping by.  As for having any art to show, I have art journal work I've done, but nothing to compare to the fantastic work here.  Maybe down the way I might be bold enough to place something up. Look forward to interacting with you on the site.:)

SKYCITY TALKRADIO

THE UNDERGROUND BY ROXANNE BLAND

Life as alpha of a werewolf pack is anything but predictable. But even Parker Berenson is surprised by the latest twist: he’s fallen in love with a space alien. Problem is, he suspects Melera, his sexy new flame, might be the serial killer terrorizing Seattle. Or maybe she isn’t. After all, just because she’s an interstellar assassin doesn’t mean she’s guilty.
