The Missing Finger!

Many people have found themselves disappointed with the state of what passes as acceptable "black media" today. Ofen times we are portrayed as a loud, raunchy, and otherwise ignorant race of people on conventional television. Sure, there are a few rays of hope (Oprah's Network immediately comes to mind). However, they are certainly not the majority, nor extremely popular.
A substantial contributor to this state, we believe, is a lack in the number of black owned and operated media outlets in visual media. Did you know that there are a little over 40 channels specific to Hispanics (Spanish speaking channels) on National Cable? Yet, the number of channels targeting people of African Descent can be counted on one hand:
  • B.E.T
  • TV One
  • Oprah Winfrey Network
  • Bounce TV (recently launched Sept 27th, 2011)
Four channels?! And with a finger to spare! Simply stated, there's just not enough variety or choice out there for us. This is rather confusing since black people consume THE MOST visual media of any other ethnic group in America. WNWP-TV Internet Television (http://wnwp.tv) seeks to provide a better alternative with original, home grown, independent programs produced by black people, for black people.
This Sunday, October 30th, 2011 The Wombman's Song Community Experience will host Baba Djedi to discuss WNWP-TV Internet Television and its positive answer to our current media options. Speak with him LIVE this Sunday evening on The Wombman's Song Community Experience. 7pmEST/ 6pm Central.
