Black Lightning, the big DC drama package with Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl) producing and Mara Brock Akil & Salim Akil (The Game, Being Mary Jane) writing and producing, has landed at Fox with a pilot production commitment. It was a quick sale for the drama, from Warner Bros TV and studio-based Berlanti Productions and Akil Productions, which was taken out late last week.

Written by the husband-and wife duo of Mara Brock and Salim Akil based on the DC character created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden, Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: he hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend — Black Lightning.

FYI: The last time FOX green lit a Black superhero TV Show was Sam Raimi's M.A.N.T.I.S. and that show was butchered and cancelled by FOX executives with so much as a warning.

That being said, please ready your VCRs/DVRs/TiVos/Whatever and record every possible episode of BL that you can before FOX gives it the ax.

This is cool. The more black superheros on TV and in cinema the better.

I remember MANTIS.. I was upset when they took it off.  It was such a GREAT show!! Then FOOF! it disappeared.

I agree FOX has a tendency to axe really viable shows and I was thinking....uh-oh! But maybe they'll give it time.

Ha! I remember Mantis and the Nigerian Support staff then all of a sudden they white-washed it and the thing went downhill QUICKLY!  Just like NY Undercover when they killed off Eddie...we'll see.

The Brother reminds me of Black Vulcan from the Super Friends.  IJS

I did a little research on the creative team behind this pilot production commitment, Mr. Salim & Mara Brock Akil. Between them, they have produced and written mainly for Dom Coms and Worm Coms such as:

  • Moesha (1996)
  • The Jamie Foxx Show (1999)
  • Soul Food (2002)
  • Girlfriends (2003)
  • The Game (2006)
  • Cougar Town (2010)
  • Being Mary Jane (2013)

FYI: Black Lightning is listed as a "TV Movie" on both of their IMDB Resumes, so this writing duo may be writing just for the pilot episode and will probably hand the reigns over to another set of writers.

Or I could be wrong.

i wish hollywood would get some fresh talent behind the doors.

M.A.N.T.I.S. was years before it's time.  But it would be cool if they could bring it back.  Still, I'm excited about Black Lightning. Like most black kids, Black Lightning was the first face of color I saw in comic books, Storm, Luke Cage and Black Panther coming later.  FOX aka DC has been doing a good job of showing people of color in superhero shows and an "okay" job of portraying black superheroes.  This will be there chance to step up their game and do things right.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed but I'll be tentative with my complete hopes.

I think that is part of the problem.  It was Hollywood!  lol.

Yeah that its a Greg Berlanti Production.

Boo that its Fox.

I remember being amped when I first saw "Sleepy Hollow", too. Look where that went!

The Show Holds Promise, However Networks Like "FOX" And "The Syfy Channel" Have A Horrible Record Of Letting Shows Go, Just When They Are About To Bloom. We Shall See.

Fallback Disk...

A group of researchers recently observed a mysterious infrared emission coming from near a pulsar in NASA's Hubble Space telescope data. This animation depicts one possible source of the emission: a "fallback disk" or a disk that formed from materials of the parent star falling back into the neutron star after a supernova. The Enslavement of the "Black Art Movement"

Posted by Turtel Onli on September 19, 2018 at 8:30am 0 Comments

During the heady days of the Black Cultural revolution in Chicago, there was a lot of art dealing with this hope and concept.  The mainstream galleries, Black art curators, historians and critics mostly stayed away from it.  Then once certain major players in this died in came the White parasites.  One a college professor the other a Jewish art dealer.  Both swooped in making deals to sell works, with the other building a entire career path for herself.  Now they are the accepted go-to authorities of this movement. That they treat as a dead slave on their plantations. "The Black Art Movement" now produces no revenue or power for the people it were supposed to benefit.

And all of this happened due to the "Black on Black boycott" that allowed non-Blacks to walk in a take it to the bank.  WHen Black do not support and endorse its own positives others come in later to reap its resources, power & wealth.

Schrödinger's Temperatures...

A new uncertainty principle holds that quantum objects can be at two temperatures at once, which is similar to the famous Schrödinger's cat thought experiment, in which a cat in a box with a radioactive element can be both alive and dead. Credit: Shutterstock

When the researchers turn an external magnetic field in different directions (indicated with arrows), they change the orientation of the linear electron flow above the kagome (six-fold) magnet, as seen in these electron wave interference patterns on the surface of a topological quantum kagome magnet. Each pattern is created by a particular direction of the external magnetic field applied on the sample.

Republicans: Founded in 1854 by anti-slavery expansion activists and modernizers, the Republican Party quickly surpassed the Whig Party as the principal opposition to the Democratic Party. In 1860, it came to power with the election of Abraham Lincoln to the presidency. The party presided over the American Civil War and Reconstruction and was harried by internal factions and scandals toward the end of the 19th century. Today, the party supports a conservative platform (from an American political perspective), with further foundations in supply-side fiscal policies,…

At 2:30 a.m. EDT (0630 UTC) on Sept. 11, the MODIS instrument aboard NASA’s Aqua satellite looked at Hurricane Florence in infrared light. MODIS found coldest cloud top temperatures around the eye, as cold as or colder than minus 80 degrees (yellow) Fahrenheit (minus 112 degrees Celsius). Surrounding the eye were thick rings of powerful storms with cloud tops as cold as or colder than minus 70 degrees (red) Fahrenheit (minus 56.6 degrees Celsius). Credit: NASA/NRL…

Life as alpha of a werewolf pack is anything but predictable. But even Parker Berenson is surprised by the latest twist: he’s fallen in love with a space alien. Problem is, he suspects Melera, his sexy new flame, might be the serial killer terrorizing Seattle. Or maybe she isn’t.
