My current dilemma in moving The Darkside Trilogy forward...

So, you have a community of Black folks living on the backside of the moon without, for all practical purposes, anyone on Earth knowing that they're there.  And, they've been there for four decades before they are "Discovered."

What kind of culture do they have?

What values govern their behavior?

What goals do they have and how are they determined?

Who decides the direction of the community's endeavors?

And more importantly...what happens when someone, anyone, doesn't want to go along with the program?

These, and other dilemmas, populate my paranoid musings as I blithely type along.

Tune in later for my next bout of writer's paranoia...

Hey I was thinking of how much this sounded like "The Europa Chronicles" with a twist. You ask some very interesting questions here.

No doubt, Milton. And, for the most part I will ignore them because the story is bigger than a mere academic's criticism. If they add that the "Discovery" universe is one never before conceived, and that it discusses America's issues with race without resorting to preaching, or that the Black characters are a class of African Americans that don't currently exist in modern novels, movies or plays, I'll give them a pass. (grin)

Ronald, when there's no air outside, sending folks out without their shoes and socks seems pretty punitive...you think? (chuckle)

It would be interesting to see what kind of enforcement mechanism they have.

That's the whole point. What is the evolution of 1960s, predominantly urban Black folks, into the best example of utopian living forty years later. That's the main line of the story. I have it almost all in the back of my mind, but I don't want some smart-assed Ph.D. in sociology to pick the story apart with impunity. (grin)

You might want to ask yourself what the original people that landed there were like.

THE UNDERGROUND BY ROXANNE BLAND

Life as alpha of a werewolf pack is anything but predictable. But even Parker Berenson is surprised by the latest twist: he’s fallen in love with a space alien. Problem is, he suspects Melera, his sexy new flame, might be the serial killer terrorizing Seattle. Or maybe she isn’t. After all, just because she’s an interstellar assassin doesn’t mean she’s guilty.
