In the strangest coincidences just as the lightening illuminated the dark room the large screen tv on the wall came to life. The light from tv emancipated the single man in the room from the darkness. He wore a lab coat that only slightly exposed a white shirt and red tie. On his face a pair of circular lens glasses that had a hard time accommodating his nervous facial expressions. On the screen appeared five men whose faces completely shrouded in darkness and were only represented by the visual of the very expensive suits they were wearing. They sat at a semi circular table with a point of focus at the center where the video conferencing equipment was. They all seemed to be concentrating on the screen watching the dark skinned spectacled scientist shift nervously behind his on table.“Good evening Dr. Francis” the man at the head of the table spoke with his hand clasped. “We are glad you could join us today.”“The pleasure is all mine Archons” the scientist said struggling to muster a smile.“As I am sure you know Dr. Francis” the head man spoke again in his gruff voice. “The faithful day we have been waiting for is here”.“Yes Sire Archon” The scientist said nodding. “I have been watching the news”.“Then I am sure you have seen the wonderful work that our fellow Archons have been doing at University Park” the Sire Archon said with satisfaction in his voice.“Yes Sire Archon” Dr. Francis said nodding. “Its all over the news” he said looking away from the screen.“The purpose of this conference is to remind you that we expect no less from you” the Sire Archon said now pointing is mocha colored finger. “The Boule has a lot invested in this project as I am sure you understand. The fate of this project now rest in your hand doctor, and we will not tolerate failure” the leader said with his bobbing in the shadows.“Of course Sire Archon” the scientist said nodding his head nervously.“Since we are at a understanding” the shadowed leader said now lowering his voice.”Tell us the status of the patient”.“Well” the Scientist said sounding more confident. “ His vitals are still stable, and we have proceeded to began the thaw process.”“Great” exclaimed the Sire Archon. “How long should it take”“Giving that this is such a delicate process, one that has never been attempted before” he said trying to explain. “It will take at least three weeks to ensure the safety of Patient G”.Suddenly murmurs broke out in the board room. The other men who hadn’t spoken before began to conversate. Hands were raised fingers were pointed. The Sire Archon raised his hand the room when quiet once again.“Dr. Francis” the leader said in a calm voice. “The Boule hired you because you are the foremost scientist of cryopreservation, and we believed that your abilities were sufficient to complete this project. As I stated before the Boule has a lot invested in this project. As you saw on the news what was done at Penn State took a lot of effort from our fellow Archons. Lots of snooping, stealing, and paying off. It took an incredible amount of resources to put an end to the targets career.”“Yes Sire Archon, I am aware” Francis said .“Well, then” he continued. “I am sure you understand three weeks is not fast enough”.“butt…”“No butts” Sire Archon interrupted, slamming his fist on the oak table. “The situation is prime. This is the perfect time to return patient G to his former glory and we will not miss out on it because of your over cautiousness.”“I understand” Francis said nodding towards the camera. “But if you don’t mind me asking, how was the Boule able to put the target into this position.”“I do mind you asking Dr. Francis” Sire Archon responded matter of factly. “We tell you things on a need to know basis, and you do not need to know that information to get your job done. What is most is important is that Joe Paterno has been forced to retire, and that now is the perfect opportunity for our Archon patient G to return to his former glory. Do you Understand Dr. Francis?”Dr. Francis shook his head, knowing that any further discussion would be fruitless, and do more harm than good.“Great” said Sire Archon. “Now it would be in your best interest not to waste time going the lab and speeding up the thawing process. We expect Patient G to report to Grambling State and relieve Doug Williams of his coaching position within two weeks. Is that understood?”The scientist agreed without argument.“Excellent” the Sire Archon exclaimed. “ We will expect a report on my desk in Atlanta by Tuesday. Good evening Dr. Francis. We do not expect failure. The screen turned from the conference room to three greek letters.ΣΠΦWith that Dr. Francis left the room leaving the letters on the screen. He walked directly the elevator. When he entered he opened a secret door below the buttons. Behind the secret door was a finger print scanner. He pressed his thumb to the screen and instantly the elevator began to move downward. After a moment the elevator came to a stop and the doors behind him opened. He walked out taking a left walking towards a door at the end of the hallway. The sign on the door read:Dr. Darryl Francis IIIProfessor of CryopreservationDo Not EnterHe typed on the key pad next to the door and it unlocked. He entered in the room that was full of computers refrigerators and other scientist to busy doing their work to even look up to see who entered. In the center of the room was a large machine that continually belched steam. The machine had tubes and large pipes coming from a large glass cylinder tank. The stainless steel pipes lead to a lead control computer.Dr. Francis walked to the computer and pressed a few buttons. Suddenly gas began shooting from some of the vents liquid pumped through the pipes lights began to flash. The process had been speed up to the maximum. He could only wait now.He looked in the tank their frozen in the liquid nitrogen was an old black man. Above it was a large sign that read:Patient GArchon Eddie Robinson
