"Ugh, my head. Did I sleep outside all night?" said
Shakuan wearingly.
He groggily lifted himself up and sat upright. He
whisked his tongue around his mouth and noticed a few
teeth were loose. Groaning both in pain and in embarrassment
he looked around. He could see an aura glowing
brightly from someone’s body and another void of spiritual
energy.
"Kenitha," he said grimly.He sat for a moment in lament then desperately
scanned her body again and came up with nothing. He
tried to console himself by rubbing his stomach, he felt
like a piece of him was snatched away. He wanted to cry
but was physically unable to after he lost his sight. He beat
the ground with his fists until they were bruised and
cursed his dry tear ducts.
A few feet away Larry sprung up to his feet as if nothing
happened. Maybe he didn’t realize what took place and
was too perplexed to acknowledge anything could. Losing
consciousness was something he never experienced, even
before the shift. Larry walked towards Shakuan wondering
what was going on.
"How long was I out for? Hours? Wasn’t it still night?"
thought Larry, still trying to comprehend what happened.
He didn’t feel anything except an absence of time. As
he was walking he saw her, he saw Kenitha. Initially he
thought she was just knocked out and laying unconscious
on the ground.
He then noticed the hole.
He crouched down next to her, lifted her head up by
her locks and looked at her. He could see a tree a few feet
away clear out the other side of her head through a gory
hole. Making a face of disgust, he let her locks slip out of
his hands one by one. Just as her head hit the ground
Shakuan ran up on him and grabbed him by the collar and
shook him.
"Don’t you have any respect for the dead?" he asked
angrily.
"No," Larry answered blankly.........
