There is a fine line between magic realism and science fiction that fascinates me. Two of my favorite authors who, I feel, are pros at stretching the realm of imagination within literary fiction are Ralph Ellison and Richard Wright.Richard Wright's main character from The Outsider, Damon Cross, is likable, tortured and brilliant. He fakes his own death -- through a freak train accident -- relocates to another city; leaving a trail of bodies. Wright uses Damon to harshly critcize racism (among other things) and the dual identity Black folks were (are) forced into.Dolls and guys are you are fascinated with magic realism as I am? Who's your favorite author (s) that uses this technique and why?
