My name is Nmuta Jones. I am an independent game developer living in Denver, Colorado. I teach high school computer science (including AP Java) and I have been teaching video game design for about seven years now.
The first five of those seven years were in Philadelphia, PA where I taught city kids digital media, including video game design. Is it a difficult field? Yes. Is it more complex than making websites ? Yes. It is rewarding ? DEFINITELY !
I've been on Black Science Fiction Society website for a while and the level of creative genius on this site is very impressive. There are writers, animators, visual arts, and visionaries on this website. Imagine your ideas taking shape as a video game.
My class is intense, but I have well over a decade of teaching experience and the class size is small, so you will get individual attention. Additionally, the classes are recorded AND you will have access to a lot of pre-recorded information, so you will be able to stop, pause, rewind, play, stop, pause, review, etc. until you get a good understanding of each lesson.
I'm sorry, but I can only accommodate 15 students in this class. If you are interested, visit www.mediabreeze.com and register before the class is full.
Good luck, and let's see some positive, culturally affirming games !!!
The world needs YOU to start making them.
Peace
-Nmuta
