Hello everyone,
I received a phone call yesterday pertaining to my debut novel, A Warrior's Passage. A young woman, from Atlanta, Ga. indicated to me that my debut novel will be featured in the June edition of Uptown magazine. I found out it would be one of the books featured, since I registered for the 1st Annual Atlanta Black Book Expo. http://abbexpo.com/
I figured this is another avenue to bring us (BSFS) to the mainstream. I put up the link just in case anyone is interested. The event is scheduled for Aug. 7, 2010. It showcases aspiring authors, poets, play-writes and others of various occupations. I'm a little nervous since I will be the only black author in the Sci-fi genre, that I know of so far. Now to celebrate this feature coming up on Uptown magazine I've included a second excerpt (Chapter 2 - Shilah Little Wolf) from my debut novel, A Warrior's Passage in the Excerpts group that D K Gaston has created. I couldn't give you the very tense and one of my favorite chapters that includes Deputy Chief Brown, since it reveals too much in this Sci-fi/Mystery. It will take you some time to actually figure out who the antagonist really is.
Every time I write these discussions I have to bring up the people that I've met here like PurpleZoe, Veronica Henry and my new friends Ayindi and Umoja Tech. The reason why I do this is because I can never forget the ones who've offered there words as I continue on this journey. All of this is possible, because I love this site and I know you all would agree when I say that this Sci-fi portal (BSFS) should always remain open (online), so whenever you can, go to the main page and show your support for it. Click on the guy walking with the green & white bag. It took me sometime to figure that out. I know I'm not the only one that loves to come here. I see it in all of your discussions. Anyone have other events that may be good opportunities for others here as we head towards the branching mainstream?
