Hello everyone
We want to wish everyone a happy Black History Month!
Carter Godwin Woodson was an African-American historian, author, journalist and the founder of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. In February 1926, he announced the celebration of "Negro History Week" which over the years has grown to what we know now as Black History Month.
This is an excellent time to educate and elevate children, family, friends, coworkers and ourselves so that we know about the roles Blacks have played throughout history. Black History is important because it is World History.
This month we have lots of great information we will share with each other so that so know and so that we may teach. It has been said that those that fail to learn the lessons of the past are doom to repeat them. With that said here are a few of the things planned. February 1-28, Black Historical Series
A month long Black History Series by Physics Aficionado, Historian and Science Blogger, Reginald L. Goodwin on African and African American authors of Speculative fiction and African and African American Scientists and Engineers.
February 7, Blacks in Sci-Fi and Fantasy: A Lecture by Phenderson Djeli Clark
Mr. Clark will present a lecture about blacks in speculative fiction from a historical, cultural, and personal perspective. This event is sponsored by the Black Writers' Guild of Maryland, the Baltimore Science Fiction Society, and the Black Science Fiction Society. 1PM at Enoch Pratt Free Library 1531 W. February 13, Boskone Sci-Fi Convention 2015
