Okay put your crayons away and let's see what is going on in the 3D world.
For all you Zbrushers out there Zbrush 4R7 is out and it delivers the goods and then some...
The new upgrades now make Zbrush one of the most complete packages available...

With the Zmodeler and Arraymesh features you can now make things that in the past you needed to import your models into other softwares and then back to Zbrush to finalize!
Zbrush has also partnered with Keyshot one of the top renderers available for a nice price...
https://www.keyshot.com/zbrush/
With these two combined you can practically do whatever sci-fi model you can imagine and still have money left over for coffee and donuts!
In other news and highlights, unless you have been cryogenically frozen for the past few years you may have heard of the game changing new software Substance Painter...
https://www.allegorithmic.com/products/substance-painter
For the indie price of $149 you too can add textures to your models that normally would require a mad scientist level acumen to accomplish!
If you want your intergalactic tank to look like it has seen a lot of weather based wear and tear then this CG Award winning software is your ticket to better results...

Also... The some of the members of the Allegorithmic team had a user group meeting at the Gnomon school which is the head quarters for Pixologic/Zbrush and according to sources there will be a GoZ type button uniting the softwares thus locking the industry down on a real cgi gangsta software power move!
Quixel... Try saying that name fast while drinking water and you might have discovered a plugin that can make your photoshop struggles a thing of the past!
Similar to Substance Painter this software can help give you that authentic realistic look you were hoping for!
Note: The author of this thread has not sampled this particular software because he uses Substance Painter... I mean like why overload your main computer at least not until you upgrade the memory again right! Lol
Anywho...
Wacom has up and done it REAL BIG this time...
http://www.wacom.com/en-us/products/pen-displays/cintiq-27-qhd-touch
Apparently side does matter with this 27 inch screen that is the same size of the iMac computer and for the right price can be had with touch display if you are feeling finicky and want to zoom in real close on those Zbrush fiber meshed nostril hairs! Lol
Note: Of course the author of this thread has not sampled this thang yet because you are supposed to wait a good minute until all the bugs and defects are worked out first then you buy it... NAW who are we kidding the money is not right yet so this is on the five finger discount wish list just as soon as that guy at the register turns his back! (smile)
Digital Tutors a website for dedicated students to learn high-end software finally caved in and added "ONE" whole tutorial for light wave users...
http://www.digitaltutors.com/software/LightWave-tutorials
I mean come on guys I use Lightwave and they need to get up off of Maya, 3ds Max and CINEMA 4D's jockstrap and get with the program and add more Lightwave tutorials and help a brotha out!
Speaking of Lightwave they did some remodeling themselves for 2015...
https://www.lightwave3d.com/new_features/
Note: The author of this thread has not upgraded to Lightwave 2015 because 2014 (Lightwave 11.6) is still nice as it is already so no need to get greedy! Lol
That's all you get for now anything else will cost you peeps more... You may now pick up the crayons again and return to your regularly scheduled illustrations!
