Back in the day which is really not that far off I used to fly back to Chicago for family and business trips and then me and the one and only Ronald T. Jones would hook up for a round table of talks over some deep dish Chicago style pizza!

Not the weak "New York" style thin crust but the type of Chicago pizza you have to back up a fork lift just to get a slice in your mouth and hope that no small children get avalanched by all that cheese sliding off of the crust! Lol

Having not been to Chicago in a good minute because Gosh Dang Darnit Doo Hickey it's cold as FRAK over there and I likes me some California palm trees swaying in the winds during all seasons!

With all of that said I do miss the round table talks me and Ronald had as well as getting the car from stuck out of 10 feet of snow but I have found several locations out here in La La Land that compare favorably when it comes to "authentic" deep dish Chicago pizza!

Ronald get your passport stamped because it's on...

For the fine diner in you I present Masa of Echo Park...

This place is usually rocking when the Chicago Cubs play the Dodgers and them Windy City nut cases come through for that taste of home!

Having eaten here many times it delivers on the Chicago based atmosphere as well as the pizza!

Next on the list is Taste Chicago owned by Joe Mantegna...

To be honest here I was disappointed at first by their earlier versions of Chicago pizza which sent me to Masa of Echo Park but recent visits have proven that they redeemed themselves with a much better product!

I had a mini deep dish for lunch and it worked a brotha something good so Joe and his wife are back in my five... Plus they are better at the hot dog and Italian beef game so it's all good!

My brother discovered this next venue and recommended I hit it up...

I freely admit due to the driving distance and having to bypass LAX airport that I only ate one of their pizzas and it was after the long drive back home!

But a true Chicagoan still knows how to taste test a pizza even after it sat in the passengers seat getting cold in that ridiculous LA traffic and it was still satisfying nonetheless!

But the winner is Hollywood Pies...

A former client from Chicago informed me of their existence and their original business plan was strictly curbside delivery where you met them at a certain location and mysteriously a guy delivered to your car a preordered pie!

As strange as that sounds after I met the owner he explained how difficult it was to sell pizzas and maintain a permanent address financially but after switching secret delivery locations several times he finally found a good location and it's all good... If you ignore that they don't have an available washroom that is so eat and split ASAP! Lol

Whenever I need a REAL Chicago pizza this is my first option and despite the degree of difficulty to drive to this location from where I live it is well worth it... To be honest the black super hero in me misses the secret delivery!

Now that we have several options I look forward to when Ronald completely gives up on all the severe midwest weather patterns and makes that pilgrimage out west for good!

Note: There are several imposters in the Los Angeles area claiming to have "REAL" Chicago deep dish pizza only to sadly disappoint with some watered down knock off so if I have not reviewed it then it aint legit!
