Hello, I hope it is okay for me to post this here.
I'm kickstarting Chummer Magazine, a digest of bizarro, new weird, strange short fiction and gaming. We're paying seven cents a word. We've opened submissions, but most of the submissions we're getting are from people like me with voices like mine... straight white guys.
As editor-in-chief, that's not sitting well with me, so I'm reaching out to communities that feature voices different from mine. I'd love to find a great story that fits our ethos from the Black Science Fiction Society to run in Chummer. Our mag is cognizant of the institutional problems of the sci-fi community, and we're very serious about doing better than the status quo.
The video on our Kickstarter explains pretty well our brand and what we're all about. That's here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/956214187/chummer-magazine
And here is our submissions info page: http://www.chummermag.com/submissions/
Donations to the Kickstarter are obviously important to us, but I'm not here to panhandle. I'm reaching out to find black (and any other minority group) sci-fi writers to invite to our magazine. If you build it, they will come, etc.
Feel free to email me at editor@chummermag.com if you have questions. Thanks for letting me visit your board, from scanning and reading a bit, it seems like ya'll have an awesome community going on here.
