In the Science Fiction Poetry Association an organization dedicated to advancing the speculative poetry genre there is controversy brewing regarding a poem that is percieved to be racist. The poem "Green Reich" by writer S.A. Kelly was published in the newest addition of Star line a journal of science fiction poetry and the offical journal of the Science Fiction Poetry Association.
Though i havent had the chance to read the poem from what i have heard the poem could possible be seen as a jab at many groups. The publishing of the poem has also lead to atleast one member to break ranks with the SFPA. The question is if in this genre should political correctness be a prerequisite to publication and did publishing this poem in the organizations journal who has hoped to welcome more minorities into the world of speculative poetry hurt its chances of doing so? what are your thoughts?
