Spike TV presents the second season of Deadliest Warrior. One of the matchups pits an Aztec Jaguar warrior against a Central African Azande Warrior. The Aztecs I'm familiar with because they are well known in history. The primary weapon of the Jaguar warrior class within the Aztec army was an extremely sharp obsidian sword. Information on the Azande is frustratingly sparse. Even the book African Arms and Armor does not provide enough information on Azande techniques of war, although it does provide good coverage of Azande weapons, particularly the throwing knife.
Azande weapons are as fearsome looking as any weapon can be. I would not want to be at the receiving end of one. That's why I'll give the Azande the edge. Plus, metal is more durable than volcanic rock.
