Digital Updates!

Just a little heads up on some things in the digital world so eyes front and center...

For those of you working with high end software like Maya, 3DS Max or Lightwave you can purchase ready made models from cg trader...

Everything from sports cars to 3D printable statues are available for download to use as you so please!

Let's say you want to animate a high speed chase involving a Ferrari and a fighter jet you can buy these items from a vendor and plug them in to your scene and take it from there!

A lot of software makers are going the pay for play route and offering monthly subscriptions at low rates!

One of those is the Unreal Engine...

Used to make such massive hits likes the Batman: Arkham series and Infinity Blade this video game making software is the REAL deal!

Now priced at $19 a month  everybody and they momma can use this to make multiplayer games for Playstation and Xbox or iOS handheld devices!

For Mac enthusiasts Other World Computing has all your upgrade needs...

http://eshop.macsales.com

Having upgraded the memory on my personal iMac through them I now have the ram necessary to do some of the labor intensive work that I needed to without that spinning wheel of time that appears on the screen to show me that I have maxed out on available memory so wait another minute you polygon addicted idiot! Lol

With the new Mac Pro on my radar their customized memory options should be more than enough for the cgi needed to make Ronald's movie worth a look... Just putting that out there!

Class is in session and Digital Tutors is online to service your graphics learning curve with tutorials galore...

From A-Z (After Effects to Zbrush) most of the main software tools are taught by the pros to make your projects even better than you could imagine!

And if online schooling is your cup of tea there is the Gnomon way...

The Gnomon Workshop assisted me greatly with a Zbrush basics tutorial and the Gnomon School now offers online training for those not able to travel to Hollywood for hands on training!

However, if you do plan to travel having toured the Gnomon School I can attest to their excellent classroom set up and the live Zbrush demos in their large hangar on campus!

Being the TROLL that I am during the questions and answers session I asked one of the presenting artists how to make braids for black people's hair and got those nice stares from the other attendees who were mostly white but sometimes I go in like that right! Lol

Last but definitely not least there are BSFS.com alumni with books available on iBooks like Ronald T. Jones, Valjeanne Jeffers and Tosin Coker!

The digital age is upon us and the days of carrying tons of books around have been traded out for carrying thousands of books on your handheld devices... And the trees love you for this!

As I TROLL various forums it's nice to be able to have an extra pop up screen to read my esteemed colleagues latest novels in between posts and get inspiration from their successes!

Digital books are generally priced lower than the printed ones making it possible to purchase more than your fair share of good reads!

If you fear credit card fraud or identity theft you can venture to an Apple store and pay cash for a gift card and use that to buy all the books you want without worrying about hackers stealing your banking info... If they want the $2.99 left on your gift card that bad let em have it! Lol

As we grow in this genre we must be mindful of the standards we set as creators when we produce our projects!

If the competitor next to you is using the best of the best in order for you to compete with them you have to match or surpass whatever it is that they are doing!

The internet has made it possible to close the gap on what one can do on their own and all you and I need is that extra drive to want to accomplish this!

That's all the news for now so stay digital my friends...
