Spike Lee boycotts ‘Django Unchained’ to avoid being ‘disrespectful’

Director Spike Lee doesn't have much to say about Quentin Tarantino's new film about a slave-turned-gunslinger. When it comes to "Django Unchained" he simply won't watch it.
"It'd be disrespectful to my ancestors to see that film. That's the only thing I'm going to say. I can't disrespect my ancestors," Lee told VibeTV in a recent interview.
I'd have to respectfully disagree with Spike on this. Why in 2012,is slavery in America STILL a hot button issue to discuss? In my opinion, some black folks in America don't want to talk about slavery, because white folks don't really want to talk about slavery, with both groups saying,"That was in the past". But today, every time a white person says a racist remake or does something in a racist gesture, black people are REMINDED of a time when those gestures and remakes were part of the social norm, back when"Niggers knew their place". A time some white people would love to totally forget.
Spike,In my opinion,I believe it would be "disrespectful"if we didn't speak on our ancestors sorrows and triumphs in recorded HIStory. I'm more disappointed that Spike Lee didn't come up with an idea on such a film as "Django Unchained"
In my opinion,Quentin Tarantino don't give a crap about slavery. If one is a fan of his movies, one would know QT is about SHOCK VALUE in his films. What he did was take an old spaghetti western "Django"(1966) and tacked slavery onto it. Slavery,if one researches,is as ultra violent, ultra hardcore in a sexual nature, ultra profane and ultra offensive to human nature, not to mention child molestation off the scales.Put a "hero" in the middle of that situation, killing the "bad guys"and the movie audience will be at edge of their seats. That is what QT is looking for.
Spike,I'm working on a screenplay called,"HARRIET TUBMAN KICK ASS". Look for the large brown envelop in the mail.
I remember when "Roots"first aired on TV(the age of free TV) and all the family members gathered in the living room to watch and discuss about slavery with the conformed parents vs the radical older brothers(with us younger brothers absorbing information, giggling),but it was topic worth discussing.
Today,in my opinion,it's like we shy away from the slavery topic, finding it more offensive, than a learning OURstory. In my opinion, slavery is the direct reason black people disrespect, distrust, greedy and are arrogant towards one another in 2012.That's why white people rather not discuss such an issue, especially when they always bring up the Jewish Holocaust. We just might start asking for "financial retribution".
So what say you,BSFS?I MIGHT see the movie with my son.The reason why I probably wouldn't see it is because movies are expensive.(I haven't been to the movies since seeing the film "300")and I'm not too crazy about filling Quentin Tarantino's pockets. But it WON'T be ,because I'll be "disrespecting my slave ancestors".
I think it's time for us black folks to step outside the box and get raw and ugly in the face,as far as creativity. We have SO much material. The world is waiting.
