I've been recently viewing Star Trek: DS9 via Netflix. The first two seasons weren't that good, but It soon picked up later on. I didn't grow up watching Star Trek, so DS9 was my introduction into the Universe. What kept me watching this show was that I found so many parallels between Captain Sisko and ICON of Milestone Comics. I just got done watching an episode called Far Beyond The Stars ( Season 6, Ep 13). I've viewed it twice and have mixed feelings about it.
For those of you who are not familiar with this episode, Sisko has visions of himself and his crew as writers for a science fiction paper in 1950's Earth. Within this alternate universe exists an African-American science fiction writer Benny Russell who tries to promote his work, but gets denied. It explored racism and importance of determination. I'm curious to know what your opinions on this episode were. Did you enjoy it or hate it? Do you feel that this episode need to be a two-parter? Did this episode ever hit home for you?
