I just bought the latest issue of Ebony magazine with Chiwetel Ejiofor on the cover... Forrest Whitaker is on the alternate cover where both discuss the topic "How Black Men Took Over Hollywood" due to the buzz created by movies like The Butler and 12 Years A Slave featuring the two distinguished actors as black male leads!
But forget those cats for a second... Lol
The real topic is the "Power 100" where various influential persons like Oprah, Magic Johnson, Harry Belafonte and T.D. Jakes through entertainment, investments, activism and preaching have helped change and reshape the world even beyond the borders of the black community!
This is a great opportunity for some of us to rise to those same lofty levels either through sci-fi or primary colored super heroism!
One thing that has been consistently clear is that all 100 of those named worked harder or worked smarter in some capacity to reach the status awarded by Ebony magazine!
From athletes like Lebron James and Serena Williams to intellectuals like Henry Louis Gates Jr. and Powerbroker of The Year President Barack Obama black folks are thriving in all types of avenues!
Perhaps this is the year that one of us does it real big and gets noticed for great accomplishments that stands us shoulder to shoulder with our other critically acclaimed peers!
