Fantasy Africa and Point of View

Hey guys, I'm new here and I really like a lot of what I see--it's all very positive and supportive. I'm posting this to ask a question because of something I'm battling with in my head.

I'm writing a fantasy story set in a fantasy world where, in each installment, the world gets progressively more dangerous and for lack of a better word "bad". It follows a young character Badru as he matures and travels the world on goal-relevant adventures in order to legitimize his birthright as the leader of his clan-community even though he is a boy (the clan is a matriarch but Badru's mother is extremely barren (which is very rare in their world) and was only ever able to produce a son.)

At any rate, the reason for that background is because the world is a fantasy-mix parallel of people from Africa, Southeast Asia, Indigenous Australia, the Americas and the Caribbean cultures. Even though I want to write the story the way I want, I wanted to get opinions as to whether or not it is  responsible given the nature of society. The message that screams at me says: "OMG! So it's a story where the world is comprised of Black people and it just HAS to be messed up!"

It's supposed to be something that people of color can read and see themselves in comfortably, believing that fantasy worlds are not reserved for the descendants of Europeans.
