I was just curious as to how everyone here on this island of blackness in the virtual realm got started on their personal journey? I know that's got to be a deep question and if the answer is too long to post,I understand. This is my first post here so bear with me.
My journey started during a dark time in my life when I needed an outlet and writing became that for me. As a child I always loved the stories of beings from far off galaxies. I read so many of these tales (Mostly Star Wars along with some fantasy that intrigued me as well) and wondered if I could write in the genre I loved so much!
I started out with a short story within a galaxy far far away and that went alright until my curiousity grew to see if I could create a worthy tale within the genre, but of my own making within our own galaxy twisting some things familiar to us all. That is how my novel was born.
I want to write fantasy as well as sci-fi and like many of you I am assuming noticed that people of color are not only under represented but often misrepresented. Relegated to being side role characters at best and often crude stereotypical representations not wholly realistic depictions of the populace at large. You see I know Ray-ray and them exist but I also know that's not representative of all of us.
I have looked through a few profiles here and perused some of your art and feel at home. This is my hello to my fellow black sci-fi, fantasy, Afrofuturist, and creators of all manner of nerdy goodness. I hope to see many of your creations blossom, as well as help you prosper mind body and soul. If you care to drop a little of your creative journey here so that I may get to know you better.
