Greetings fellow authors! I opened this thread as a way for us to connect and collectively build exposure to each other's work.
I have a goal to get at least fifty total reviews on my ebook, "The Seedbearing Prince: Part I" by the end of 2013 on Amazon. Now...I won't lie, my book is LONG. 133K words. Here are a few thoughts to make this venture work for everyone who shows interest:
- Reviews traded should be works of equivalent word counts. In my case, I'd be willing to review two 60K works of yours in exchange for mine. Hopefully self explanatory and win-win.
- Leave reviews of around 100 words per work. Enough to give a solid idea (and hopefully praise) of the work, but not so long no one will read it.
- Here's where it gets sticky...what if the review isn't favorable--say three, two stars or less? If that's the case, write the review and DM it to the author first, so they can decide whether to include it.
I don't want to suggest in any way that we set up some pay for reviews scheme. I'm new to the world of marketing as an author, and would like to experiment with as many strategies as possible to connect with new readers. I'm hoping this is a good way to learn and build each other up in the process.
Post a link to your book in this thread if you would like to trade reviews. I'll do an example post with my book.
At the end of the day, I love to read and nothing inspires me to work harder than having my mind blown by a fellow author's story!
Please add comments on how this idea can be approved, or examples of authors using the same concept in other corners of the web. The more reviews, the better!
