So who's seen Kanye West's 35 minute video "Runaway?" It got a world premiere in a movie theater last Saturday along with a live stream from MTV. It tells the tale of a Phoenix (Selita Ebanks) that has fallen to Earth, and her attempts to exist in our world. In it Kanye puts in elements of the surreal, including a seemingly alternate universe (or maybe his own world) where wealthy black diners are waited upon by white servants and entertained by white ballerinas. It's all the talk on the "internets." Posted a video of it here to BSFS, but haven't heard much discussion...we're always talking about the need for black sci fi film. Well Kanye's created what is undoubtedly an avant garde sci fi music video that is getting alot of critical buzz.
Any thoughts?
