from my short years of experience in the realms of science fiction and writing i have come to the realization that a mfa creative writing is one of the greatest assets one could have in the writing world. it is from what i have seen the highest acaedemic degree achieved by most writers because phd programs are few and far between and hardly worth the work. the mfa alots you the skills taught in the classroom on writing. but it also gives you skills on publishing editing and networking. but many mfa creative writing programs dont look to kindly on science fiction writers with only a few being known to admit them ncsu being one do to the fact that one of its instructers is a science fiction writer. does anyone on her have MFA or thought about getting one? if you do how does it benefit you? does anyone know of any HBCUs with an MFA creative writing program?
