Hi Sisters and Allies. As you may know, NaNoWriMo is gearing up. I am committed to doing more groundwork on my novelette, The Coanda Effect –Or Nighttime to Nightmare. I'm wishing everyone a uplifting and creative coming month. I'm excerpting another part of the work here for suggestions or comments. Be Blessed, Gayle
I stopped by Jean’s club after work and ordered my usual; gingerade with lemons and limes, hey! It tastes better than it sounds. Jean and I have a collective total of 22 years of sober time. Jean used to be my sponsor, well, she still is but after firing herself after my last slip; she still makes sure that my step study “homework” is done on a semi irregular basis. Leah; my boss of almost 5 years stops by. I guess she fears if I’m not at work; I may be having too much fun, and we don’t want that.
Jean and Leah get along like two wet cats in a burlap sack. They tolerate each other the way two alpha dogs get along in a pack. I feel like a referee during what should be my ‘happy hour’. “Hello nemesis”, Jean yells over the pounding bass inside the bar. “Hi frienemy”, is Leah’s reply. They have been doing this stand-up routine for the better part of 3 years when Leah’s girl ran off with Jean’s boy. (Don’t try this at home dear reader). When they received the wedding invites to the ‘blessed union’, they re-hashed the reasons for the betrayals at this very same bar.
