Let's be clear up front I watched CAPRICA because it was an extension and the pre-quel to BSG this was enough to get me to watch it. It was slow and creeped along and had all the makings of a soap opera with little bits of meat sprinkle in to keep me coming back (IT HAS BEEN CANCELLED)
The nice people at NBC Universal were recently purchased by the nice people at COMCAST you know the cable company that owns part of DIRECT TV but dont make it public so it looks like you have a choice I digress. COMCAST immediately fired most of the executives at both NBC and Universal to allow better profit to prevail, (make no mistakes if i purchased a losing entity I would do everything in power to get it solvent ASAP) of the networks owned by NBC Universal two that chug along and make money are USA Networks and SCi-Fi aptly rebranded as SYFY for easier internet search convenience. Both of the afore mentioned networks do good business and great shows and some not so great (Monk) though quirky and good had a small faithful audience but it could have been cut sooner.
The choice to CUT CAPRICA is being attributed to low viewership has brought it to an untimely end but it is replaced in the NBC Universal world with THE CAPE now lets be honest COMCAST - and intelligent show about an advanced yet similar society to ours that questions the morality, validity and need of organized religion vs a guy THAT CANT FLY in a CAPE.
The producers of CAPRICA were slow with BSG and we got some good stuff out of that, is the rush to instantly make the bottom line correct worth sacrificing good entertainment? Just as an additional brain flap NBC Universal also owns BRAVO and could you imagine the blow back if they would have cancelled one of those mindless reality shows that keep you (mostly women NOT ALL) watching week after week with fake built in scenarios or SYFY's other lead balloon Ghost Hunters which I am sure is lesser expensive to produce versus something you might want to see a decade from now and go that was really cool
