Nixing Texting - Phone app to help end texting while driving
Parents may actually get some sense of relief when their teens are out driving. A new application, Textecution, uses a phone's global positioning system to block text messages, emails, and Internet browsing when it senses that the phone is in a vehicle that has reached a speed of more than 10 mph. The application is installed on the phone and controlled remotely. If the teen is sitting in a vehicle, rather than driving the car, he can request that the texting capability been enabled, at which point the parent can make that decision. Textecution is available at no cost at some wireless stores, and currently runs only on Androids.
