REMAKES, REIMAGININGS, REBOOTS OH MY!!!!!!

   Unless you've been frozen in carbonite over the past decade, you more then likely have noticed the BOOM of remakes in Hollywood. On the surface its a smart move. ALL about  name recognition. Studios can guarantee an opening weekend and we all would love a guaranteed payday. Can't blame them for that. But this leaves us with a shell of the originals with NO substance!!!

Opening weekends:

CLASH OF THE TITANS: $61 million

STAR TREK  $75 million

AMAZING SPIDERMAN   $62 million

The worse part is the "artist" in charge of excitedly creating these remakes use words like

"Well we wanted to do something different..." ;

"This isn't your parents..." ;

Or my favorite "We wanted to put our on mark on it."

*****************************SPOILERS******************************

This is how NEW they wanted to be:

NEW STAR TREK In To Darkness which is the 2nd of the Star Trek remakes to come out. Its viilain is Kahn. A much water down and very european Kahn. With an attempt at the same and completely AWFUL death scene in Star Trek II.

NEW Amazing Spider-man... nuff said.

NEW Man of Steel's villain is of course is a watered down version of Zod. Made popular by Superman II.

NEW Psycho A SHOT BY SHOT REMAKE OF THE ORIGINAL!!!!!!!!!! Are you kiding me????

The worse part of this trend is the original work these movies come from would never be given an opportunity now-a-days due to this overabundance of remakes. Which means we are missing out on some great scripts by some tremendously talented artist.with wonderful NEW ideas.
