One day getting the oil changed while sitting in the lobby I was reading one of the car magazines.The subject of an article was called "Is Hyundai The New Honda?"Having a mind that thinks way out of the box the first thing that came to my mind was The Rodney King incident.If you remember Rodney King was pursued by the police in his Hyundai Excel and then beaten ruthlessly by police officers.After the verdict riots and protests followed.But this is not about the aftermath but The After Math.When Hyundai first came out with the Excel I test drove one and walked away unimpressed.I recently test drove a Hyundai Genesis their sports car version and whoa!Exceleration was a rush and it is on my list of possible Batmobile duties.During the Rodney King era there were many jokes about him trying to get away from the police in a car not known for high speed potential.Since that time Hyundai has grown up and is making major waves in the automobile industry.I no longer walk by them at the Los Angeles Auto Show as I used to but keep up to date with their latest additions.Through trial and error they have endured scorn and ridicule to now achieving award winning recognition.Imagine... What if we as a people had started an automobile company at that same time and through many setbacks later had these same results.We have a President, Oprah, Jordan and in some ways or not BET but we are not yet fully complete until we introduce an African American designed and engineered automobile.As we reflect on police brutality, racism and oppression one wonders how those would be viewed differently if we had world renown tech savvy and certified ingenuity.Now imagine being chased by police in a car you made yourself and laughing like Heath Ledger's Joker did when Batman beat him down as police swarmed over you!Thoughts anyone...
