An email about this contest found its way into my inbox. You're asked to make a 4min film about a human you know. It's not exactly sci-fi related, but the prize money is significant. I think you're at liberty to add a scifi element though. You can potentially feature a cosplayer or a steam punk aficionado. Or you can feature one of the authors here on BSFS and even follow them to an upcoming convention. I think those themes will make for some interesting stories.
As part of the contest you do have to signup for a newsletter as well as join a social network platform (for filmmakers and designers) called Zooppa.
