I wrote moments ago about how this brother captured my imagination as a the lead character and a young black scientist in 2012. After I saw that, it prompted me to go watch Red Belt, a low budget martial arts (MMA) flick he did a couple years back. Of course I remembered him from Serenity, where he displayed great combat skills, and in movies like Inside Man and Four Brothers where he showed he can act. If I were to make a movie, he's the first guy I'm calling for the lead role.
Red belt was actually cool. It's not balls out action like a Jet Li film or anything. It's mostly a drama about this guy trying to run his school amidst financial and marital (not martial) problems. Then he helps out a big actor in a bar fight and gets a movie stunt coordination deal. That too goes bad and he is eventually coaxed into competing in MMA, which goes against his values. The movie features cameos from many known names in the martial arts world.
