In the movie Taken Liam Neeson gives one the best cinematic phone conversations like ever before going overseas and using those "particular set of skills" on the bad guys!
But that's not what this thread is about...
What this thread is about is either neglecting or ignoring good advice coming from someone who has more than enough credibility to speak on it!
Let's rewind the movie and go back to how that situation got started in the first place!
In the movie Liam Neeson was not exactly the world's best father and according to his ex wife not even close to resembling a decent husband who felt that his sacrifice's made on behalf of his country cost him his family!
In the lead up towards his daughter's kidnapping both her and the mother ganged up on Liam's character for the young girl to go to Europe with her friend and get their groove on which Liam objected to... Basically they "Out Voted" him by 50%!
Rather than heed his concerns they complained until he caved in and then switched up the flow by altering the travel plans along with the location of where they would be staying!
Just for the sake of going there I will say they had a "Liberal Lapse" in a "we don't care what daddy thinks we about to do what we about to do F dat N!&&@ and his special forces friends" let's keep it moving because we know better than him!
Needless to say his daughter got "TAKEN" and neither the mother nor the mothers new wealthy man got on a jet and came overseas to do what must be done to get the disobedient girl back safely!
Now had that been a black father the phone conversation might have gone a bit differently...
Father: "Get you @$$ under the bed and this is the hard part... They are about to take you because you and yo momma ran yo dayum mouths trying to signify and show out like you know what's up and look at you now!"
Daughter: "But daddy I..."
Father: "I aint tying to hear all that and neither is them dudes about to take you... You and your momz owe me an apology for listening to all that B.S. because both of you is some hardheaded fools that think you know what you doing but don't have a clue how cold this world can be away from the sheltered suburbs!"
Daughter: "But daddy they are coming..."
Father: "SEE, there you go again interrupting me when I'm talking... LOOK, just get from under the bed and hand one of them the phone I'm SO done with you and your momz right now for real!"
Kidnapper: "Uhm... Hello!"
Father: "Dude, I aint got no money because the government red tape is holding back them funds and I aint coming over there using no particular set of skills on nobody so here's what you need to do with her... Since she likes to listen to all that strip club rap music put her on the pole and let her shake what her momma gave her for free and hopefully she will learn her lesson the hard way!"
Kidnapper: "Okay uhm... Good luck!"
So what's the moral to this story?
There is none other than when somebody who knows something that you don't gives you the heads up you take what they tell you seriously and make preparations for it in advance!
Liam had friends all over the world including the one who's wife that he shot just to get his daughter back and arrangements could have been made where his daughter had friendly eyes watching out for her as if she were a mafia princess and untouchable!
This is not to say that the kidnapping itself was the mother's or the daughter's fault but the blatant disrespect shown towards Liam's character without a sympathetic ear to what he did for a living and how he did it!
In the bigger picture with the rise of terrorism and worldwide sex trafficking there were those who disrespected certain person like The American Sniper Chris Kyle for being who he was while being not so hard on the confirmed bad guys that he snuffed out!
Just because you have more votes (One father versus a mother daughter team up) does not mean that you should take advantage of someone to get your way only to have the one you out voted have to work ever so hard to correct your mistakes later when the stuff hits the fan!
There are people who see things that you don't and also see things that you don't want to see... Don't discount their knowledge just to have your way only later to regret not paying attention to those valuable details!
If you get TAKEN most of the time it is your own fault that you strayed onto a battle field that you did not even know was a battle field to begin with knowing full well somebody warned you way beforehand!
In real life time space continuum sometimes a person gets Taken, sometimes a whole movement gets Taken and in a really worse case scenario a whole country gets TAKEN!
