Miles Hawkins--Paraplegic scientist who invents an exoskeleton which not only enables him to walk, but gives him enhanced speed and strength. The TV show MANTIS was a breakthrough in that no black superhero that I know of had ever been featured as a lead in a TV series. Regrettably, TV land may never see the likes of this phenomenon ever again.
Benjamin Sisko--Star Fleet Captain, commander of a space station, and a devoted father to top it off.
Henry Deacon and Allison Blake--Both are characters in the TV show Eureka. Henry is a scientist-engineer with a broad grasp of every scientific discipline, Allison is the director of a sci-tech facility specializing in cutting edge research and development. Eureka is showcasing two other brilliant black characters this season. Allison's 13 year old son and a woman whom, due to circumstances of a temporal nature, is connected to Henry in a most unexpected way.
Blade--This vampire killer does more than just slice and dice suckheads. He led an elite team to take out a particularly nasty batch of genetically engineered night walkers and has outwitted his opponents as often as he's dispatched them.
Will Smith--Whether he's a fighter pilot taking on alien invaders in Independence Day or a determined scientist laboring to find a cure for a disease that's turned humans into monsters in I Am Legend, the rapper turned actor has remade himself into the king of science fiction blockbusters!
Morpheus and Niobe--Played by Laurence Fishburne and Jada Pinkett. Fishburne brought considerable gravitas to his role as the leader of a group of humans resisting the dominance of machines within the bowls of a bleak post-apocalyptic Earth. Petite Jada was pleasantly intimidating in her role as a ship captain. She could pilot the heck out of a ship, too!
There's my list for now. If you can think of others post 'em!!
