Words spoken from Gotham City's former District Attorney Harvey Dent...

This thread is about that pivotal moment in your main character's adventures where the lines are blurred between what is good and what is evil!

Let's say that you finally released your black based project but no one is buying it but your close friends and family and maybe a few ex-girlfriends trying to see if you made it big after the big split up without them! Lol

Your sales may be lagging simply because you did not dot your I's or cross your T's properly to resonate emotionally with your viewing audience!

I learned early as a personal trainer that "All Sales Are Emotional" and if you did not touch a nerve or two you probably will struggle with closing sales!

Movies, cartoons, comics and bedtime stories are all the same in that if you do not have that definitive moment that clearly defines the sacrifice your character will or has made you are wasting people's time!

It's not about a great death per se but there has to be a reason that someone sat their butt in a seat for two whole hours that they will never get back and watched you fumble the story that should be simple to convey!

You can have all the special effects you want but if there is nothing to stir the heart on during that saga you missed the boat!

Think of that key moment in a movie that is worth replaying over and over again...

Tragedy for the main character can be their own death, the death of someone close to them or the death of the cause for which they are fighting for!

At some point your audience needs to take that rollercoaster ride that is so good that it creates retention for years to come thus manufacturing repetitive loops fans want to revisit periodically!

Also a twist at the very end can leave conflicting opinions on what exactly is good or bad...

There is the triumphant ending where after all the smoke has cleared folks can relax and enjoy the spoils of victory...

A story should not just be about buying black but about a black creator buying into leading the audience along to conclusions that pay off well emotionally!

Is your hero or villain well developed enough so that viewers even care about the random outcomes or is it just some generic tale borrowed from other stories with little or no substance on it's own?

As black folks I believe we can deliver the goods but each creator has to believe in themselves to make it all happen as it should cinematically!

Heroes and villains are really just characters that we live through vicariously as proven in the field of cosplay for the pure factor of escapism!

Sometimes I wanna be the hero and other times I want to be the Predator hunting various members form this site in infra red just for shits and giggles...

Get EPIC and make me laugh, cry or wet my pants out loud but don't give a half hearted effort and make me go back to white owned entertainment because they bring it wholesale and you refuse to press the edit and delete button where it should so obviously apply!

Sincerely
