Zbrush Summit!

I am planning on attending this unless life gets in the way as usual...

I missed Siggraph this year due to various family related things this past summer so hopefully I will be free to attend this event at the Gnomon School!

If you are not using Zbrush or some similar form of 3D modeling software you are way behind the rest of the professional industry and playing a serious game of catch up...

The creative possibilities with Zbrush expand far beyond cartoons, movies and video games!

The Gnomon School which is the main headquarters for Pixologic has many demo gatherings where the top artists gather to teach, train and share workflow tips!

I recall asking one of the featured artists to demonstrate how to make braids because I just like to make any situation as awkward as possible... I mean if you are the only black guy there you may as well make a spectacle of yourself the first chance you get right!

Of course since then Zbrush added the Fibermesh feature so now doing braids is just a matter of learning how to twist the polygons to make a bad hair day into a good hair day!

There are many plugins for Zbrush that I am currently experimenting with like Ztree that allows you to make trees super fast and a wheel maker to get them spinning rims gleaming just right! Lol

I'll post a few pics later in this thread just to show off... Lol

If you have software like Lightwave, Maya, Modo, Cinema 4D or even Photoshop you can import models for animation or extra touch ups to enhance your work!

More and more software making companies are adding plugins to Zbrush to keep up with this demand as even Keyshot has a working bundle deal with Zbrush for rendering purposes...

I'm still waiting for Allegorithmic to make Zbrush plugins for their Substance Painter app so that I can blow up the spot much easier than making all these separate obj files... C'mon guys get yo head in da game already!

Anywho...

Last week was my birthday and someone close to me hooked a brotha up with Lightwave's Nevronmotion and Chronosculpt... Really, who needs the same old tie and sweater combo when all a brotha needs is a few new algorithm toys to play with!

Don't be giving me yesteryear's birthday presents when you know I needs to get my tech geek on ASAP!

As the printed comic sales decline and more revenue is made in the high end software arena it will become obvious that it is better to work more on digital sculpts than sequential art in the near future!

I remember sitting in a certain studio which shall remain nameless since I signed a nondisclosure clause and inquiring about a deal to animate my character Flex Hectic for 10 whole seconds which would have cost me $60,000!

But once dude showed me an example of another famous super hero they had done in Zbrush for a certain video game and that it was the billable hours for the artist that pushed that price so high I was sold... This person I had actually met at Siggraph and after touring the studio and seeing what could be done I decided to train myself in Zbrush and cut that price not only in half but into mere fractions!

Master Zbrush and you can work on practical any special effects based movie or video game but master comic book sequential art and you can stand by the phone waiting for Marvel and DC to hire you for one of those random comics that always gets cancelled months down the line!

Like I always said... Put them crayons away!
