CHAMPION - CHAPTER 2

Chapter 2It is their home, The Great Majestic Galaxy.Humans have a name for it as well. To them, it is called the Great Galaxy in Andromeda, or in more familiar parlance, the Andromeda Galaxy. No human has ever witnessed its beauty, its wondrous splendor, its infinitely diverse life-forms. For indeed the Majestic is great, far beyond any human experience. It is a galaxy of expansive knowledge, culturally rich star spanning civilizations, and complex societies. Despite all this, perhaps humankind can be considered fortunate, for no human has ever witnessed the Great Majestic’s immeasurable terror, its mind numbing horror, its eons long saga of life and death in the confines of war.In the Majestic’s deep past empires rose and fell, and rose again. No one force ever consolidated all under one authority, until the rise of the Amengalish. They were a powerful race of primate-like warrior-explorers, they considered it their duty to stop the cycle of slaughter, and bring the entire galaxy under one rule, their rule. They grew slowly at first, building their home star system into a powerhouse of war. Then, they exploded into neighboring star systems in a fiery blitzkrieg, utterly decimating the opposition. They crushed the remnants of older empires, and smashed mighty alliances under their heels, grinding whole species into dust in their seemingly holy quest for conquest, and peace. In time, they held sway over the entirety of the Majestic. After conquest, the Amengalish enforced peace, and the rule of law. Science and Magic flourished. They erected the Stargates between the worlds. These were stable, always open, doors through hyperspace that provided instantaneous travel. Commerce thrived. The Majestic itself grew into a thing of beauty, filled with worlds of wonder. Warriors remained, but their work was relegated to the shadows, almost unto a thing of myth, such was the undreamt of pervasiveness of the Galactic Peace.Eventually, there was corruption and strife. The Peace could not hold. The darker nature of sentients came to the forefront. Violence was on the rise. The bloated imperial authority grew lazy and incompetent. The Empire began to crumble under its own fetid weight. Races rebelled. An Alliance, The Majestic Alliance, was formed between several smaller federations of worlds, led by the avian-like Narellans. Their goal was to restore the peace, to root out the evil and corrupt, whose heart was the very center of the Empire. War ensued. All the Majestic’s warriors came out of the shadows, and loomed large in the light. The Amengalish fell into decline, hounded into a corner of the Majestic. Much was lost, yet they were still a mighty force, almost impossible to destroy. Where the Alliance could not prevail, there was the Zradgen, whom every civilized race shunned as the warrior dogs of the Amengalish. The Zradgen turned on their masters, and alone ground the Amengalish to dust.Genocide.They destroyed their former masters to the last child, removing them from the universe entirely. The Amengalish homeworld, they scattered to the solar winds with the use of outlaw weapons. The Amengalish Empire was dead, the Zradgen Empire was born. And for a time, there was peace. Then, one day there came a mystic, a powerful Zradgen sorcerer and seer. To the Klaksory he came, with bold words. There, where the mighty Zradgen masters assembled, he spoke his words, his prophecy, a tale of manifest destiny, and the will of galactic might. And so, galactic war again ensued. On one side, the Zradgen Empire, on the other, the Galactic Alliance, led by the Narellan Federation. To this day, they war upon one another, one side claiming destiny, the other defying it.No human knows Galactic War, and no human will … at least for four more years. However, something of the Majestic is coming to Earth. For on Earth, ultimate power will soon reside. They are coming, and they will claim it, preserve it … or destroy it.
