Hello everyone. I started this group so it can be a resource for those of you who are creating or interested in creating science fiction or fantasy that is African centered. My inspiration comes from two sources, negative and positive. First, the negative. I am a military history buff. Yet, in all of my readings on the subject, very little information about African wars, weapons, strategy and tactics are highlighted, compared to the voluminous data on European and to a lesser extent, Asian military history. The positive inspiration comes from two Sword and Soul authors on this site, Charles Saunders and Milton Davis. (See the Sword and Soul Group). Both of these superb storytellers have written novels and short stories that draw significantly upon elements in African history, particularly military related elements. They are examples of how creators can use research information borrowed from the world of facts to add substance and plausibiltiy to the exciting fictional worlds they have constructed. I should add Gregory Walker, aka Brother G, to this list, because he too has done extensive research in African history. And what he has taken from his readings have added richness to his work.Everyone is invited to participate. Anyone who has come across information, even a tidbit, regarding an African war, battle, weapons, strategy or tactics, please contribute your findings to this group in the form of an article. The chronological scope for this database is early history to modern times. Your entries can be long or short. I would encourage you to list a source or sources at the end of your article. So, jump right in my BSFS friends. Let's create a vast database on this topic that will interest researchers interested in this topic and casual readers alike!
