Nefertiti Resurrected- video

So posting this here now because the new souped up site allows for media! Video from the Discovery Channel's 2003 documentary Nefertiti Resurrected. It was Egyptologist's Joanne Fletcher's contention that she may have found the remains of the famed 18th dynasty queen, Nefertiti, wife of Akhenaten, possible mother (or aunt) of Tutankhamen. Fletcher's finds were later disputed; though the remains she found does appear to be a royal figure of the 18th dynasty, it may actually be a male and not a woman. For this possible blunder, she was eventually banned from Egypt by the head of the Egyptian Council of Antiquities, Dr. Zawi Hawass. Dr. Hawass, who appears in the documentary, claimed Fletcher was "nuts" and was angered that he and his committee weren't informed about her theories regarding the mummy's identity. Fletcher's banning created a stir of controversy, as many thought the move had more to do with politics than scholarship. At any rate, whatever the truth on Fletcher's theories, some scenes from the documentary are stunning, in their attempts to re-create 18th dynasty life. A few are posted below:

Part of the documentary discussing the priests of Amun and the threat of the Aten Temples

Part of the documentary showing Neferiti and Akhenaten's early reign

Part of the documentary detailing Nefertiti's eventual death and some of Fletcher's more "dramatic" theories

Latter part of the documentary detailing Fletcher's theories on Nefertiti's possible cause of death and an interesting forensic recreation of the mummy in question.

End of the documentary which certainly enters the fantastic, re-imagining Nefertiti as a resurrected spirit making her journey back to Egypt and through the underworld.
