Scriptwriting for Videogames

How many times have you seen or played a videogame that looked awesome but the storyline seemed disjointed, unrealistic for the scenario or just plain sucked? 10 times out of 10 that was because there was no effort to fully develop the v-game's script. Interactive entertainment just like traditional film and TV programs will benefit from a properly written and developed script. What good is all of your wonderful technical development and artistry if the story has all the earmarks of having been written by someone who has no clue about scriptwriting? More potential games end up in the 'circular files' of v-game companies because of that very discrepancy. In my next post, I'll discuss more about the formatting and storytelling process specific for v-games. In the meantime take a look at the following interview with UK V-Game Scriptwriter Tom Jubert who made his name with the "Prenumbra: Black Plague". Tom like so many of you got numerous rejection notices until he got his break with the Prenumbra series.
