As a screenwriter, I know my limitations. There are somethings I know to stand clear of because I would not do the job well. Comedy is my 'Kryptonite'. I can write humorous elements into a scene, but even that's hit or miss. To be able to bang out scene after scene where laughs are expected takes a level of skill I humbly acquiesce.

However, the 'Romantic Comedy' is a different story. A combo of comedic and dramatic elements, the 'RomCom' can blend the serious with the hilarious when done well. Funny thing these days (not the 'ha-ha' funny) is technology and social networking have essentially killed many of the potential scenarios/plotlines to be used in a good RomCom. In past years time, distance and mystery were the staggering elements to be overcome by the leads in any RomCom worth watching. Now, those elements can be dealt with in minutes with a computer and a good search engine.

Whereas in the first decade of this century/millenium, aspiring lovers would actually have to put in some legwork and use considerable brainpower to comedic effect to learn about and win the heart of the one they loved, now if someone says, 'google me' you can learn quite a lot about them in minutes! With a thorough online background search, you can know more about the person than you may care to in a few hours!
