Time Travel

Hello All,

I am working on a science fiction novel that explores alternative theories of time and time travel. Much of my research has involved philosophical writings from ancient days up until around the 60s and 70s (the quality of thought and analysis on the subject seems to decline after that period).

Essentially, what my main character is doing in the story is creating a mode of time travel that does not involve a machine or a transport to a different location.  She is seeking to manipulate time using pure logic and thought experiment to alter what is at stake in the story.

I am wondering if anyone has any good leads on materials to read on the topic, particularly in the area of practical science.

I am also attempting to weave in ancient African scientific notions of time and space. I've found very few reliable resources on the topic of ancient African civilizations' experiences and traditions of time. I've combed through an anthology of Dr. Van Sertima discussing the Dogon traditions, and have read Dr. Anta Diop's writings on Egyptian science, but havent gotten much further than that.

Any sources that anyone can point out would be greatly appreciated.
