I think it's appropriate to bring it back to where it all began. I joined Black Science Fiction Society in 2008. It was at this wonderful website that I met an equally wonderful person, Valjeanne Jeffers. We never met in person, but I enjoyed our online interactions. She was a joyful, warmhearted personality who shared a love for all things speculative fiction. That love was reflected in her writing. She wrote amazing scifi/fantasy stories that centered black people. She also edited one of my first major books, Warriors of the Four Worlds. Her passing continues to shake me. Valjeanne will be missed but she leaves behind a towering legacy of literary achievement.
